What makes a good retirement plan? What do you need for a stress-free life after retirement? When should you begin worrying about retirement? Should you even worry about that at all? Well, Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer talks about such matters. In a nutshell, this book is solely about planning ahead. Are you wondering if you are ready for retirement? Plan ahead! What about how to go about it all? Again, the simple answer is planning ahead of time. The book gives a guide on how exactly to plan ahead for the future you need.

While this book is just a rough guide, its application stretches over a wide scope. Basically, anyone can read it and find the information the book offers handy. It has tons of information on career assessment, insurance plans, and so much more. It also gives valuable information about how to plan for everything you want to achieve. For example, it guides you on what you would need to do before your retirement or career change and what to do to make it possible. For the sake of evasion of spoilers, I will leave the explanation as straightforward as that. Overall, I think the resourcefulness of the book is amazing and something to give credit for.

There are some resources and websites that the author recommends. However, I would have preferred an approach that's a little bit different. I don't think simply telling someone, "you know, Mercedes is a good car, you should drive it," is effective enough. I would have appreciated it if the author was a little more in-depth. For example on career assessments, I would have preferred being told exactly how they work and what they test for instead of just being told how to sign up for them. However, the book isn't completely devoid of explanation. It's just that I felt it was a tad shallow.

On the overall quality, I don't have any complaints. However, when compared to other books of the same genre and topic, I would place it at the same level as most but below a few. Still, it was a great read. I felt some things could be done better, but that's on a personal note. There are no serious or negative issues with the book to warrant any deduction from the rating. So, I rate it 4 out of 4 stars.

This book is great for readers who want to take control of their decisions. This book will give guidance on what to do to arrive at your goals.
