While failing to plan is planning to fail, it can be reconfigured because nothing is over till it is over. This succinctly applies to anyone regardless of creed, gender or intellectual inclination. Courtesy of improved medical care and technology, longevity has increased with the attendant need for sound planning to achieve financial security and stress free retirement.

𝘙𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 by E. Alan Fleischauer is a book on career change and planning ahead for investments and a financial safety net in retirement. It is both apt and timely and closes the missing link between reality and tradition - planning ahead and living on our talents. The book introduces the insurgent concept of " reconfigurement financial planning " which is a paradigm shift from what is already known and probably insecure to what is unknown but tends towards security with regard to career reevaluation which as stated in the book, can be done at any age including those already in retirement.

There are distinct positive aspects one being provision of links to websites to access detailed information which could not fit into the scope of the book. The other thing is that one needs to have a keen eye and mind to see through extremely crucial but obscure elements embedded within financial plans and investments options failure to which has been the bane of many crestfallen retirees. The book has coached me to look and analyze myself from a second person perspective with regard to where I am, and what can change going forward to retirement. This is well illustrated on page 27 to page 30 on self assessment. I also found no grammatical anomalies.

On the flip side, the book has a sizeable number of abbreviations which lends to some confusion as the full form is only given once and its not easy to remember them all. I felt that it would have been better to furnish the full form occasionally as the book progresses.

Suffice to say that I am now emancipated to plan for welfare deep into retirement. In addition, the book is well edited, interspersed with humorous and refreshing monotony breakers and insightful. Complex information is simplified and made digestible and therefore I give the rating of 4 out of 4 . I recommend the book to those viewing their careers as burdensome and are concerned about their future as well as those approaching retirement.
