Review of Reconfigurement
Financial management and planning are skills that many people hardly master. It becomes even worse when the retirement age kicks in with no plan. Many find themselves in this unfortunate situation. E. Alan Fleischauer is a professional with 20 years of experience as a financial advisor. He skillfully put together Reconfigurement which challenges people to reconfigure their life at any stage and plan ahead. The read is divided into 13 chapters. Each chapter addresses a uniquely differentiated financial aspect. Alan challenges the status quo that has been predominant in the financial industry regarding financial management and planning.
In the first chapter, the author starts with subject justification. He explains why financial literacy is important while helping readers readjust from the financial traditions to the realities of the current world. The economic times and financial demands have changed. The American life expectancy has increased but many are yet to embrace this reality and readjust accordingly. In his efforts to give practical advice to the readers, the author proposes that they undertake career and personality assessments. Alan helps the readers with some insurance options. For example, medical insurance options that would be a great asset during retirement. He discusses both advantages and disadvantages of the insurance options giving the reader a comprehensive understanding. He goes further to recommend other books that provide resourceful information about planning for retirement and diversifying one's income.
I have found many books of this kind boring to read but not Reconfigurement. Credit to the author for his efforts in keeping the readers motivated to read despite the numbers and the theme of the read. Specifically, his use of humor is commendable with the understanding that incorporating such is difficult while writing on a financial topic. The author uses a conversational tone. I felt like we were having a one-on-one conversation with him. I kept looking forward to what the next chapter had to offer.
I rate this read 4 out of 4 stars. I didn't find anything that would justify removing a star from my rating. There was nothing to dislike in this read. Throughout the read, I didn't find any grammatical errors thus it was exceptionally edited.
I recommend Reconfigurement to those who are starting their careers. It would not only help them plan ahead but also guide them towards leading a career life full of satisfaction. Although the author recommends it to a forty-plus-aged audience, it is a great resource for career newbies as highlighted.
