Review of A Dream For Peace
Dr. Ghoulem Berrah’s autobiography, A Dream For Peace, is a lovely story of the life of a young boy who was born and brought up in a small town in Algeria and rose to become a great freedom fighter and activist. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah grew up in a family that valued education, and thus he was not an exception as his mother went the extra mile to make sure that he got the best education possible, even after the death of his father. He eventually got a scholarship to study medicine. Due to the levels of discrimination that he experienced in his hometown and where he was educated, he became determined to fight for his people so that they would not have to go through discrimination anymore.
I find the life of Dr. Ghoulem Berrah to be inspiring and filled with passion. He was ready to give his all in the fight against discrimination against his people. His life and fight contributed to the freedom and independence of many African countries. He was open-minded and accepted everyone regardless of their religion, race, and gender. The job of fighting for the freedom of people may seem tiring sometimes, but the good thing about Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was that he never gave up on this fight because he knew the number of lives that he was helping.
His life is a standard to be copied. Even with all the rallies and fights for freedom that engaged him, he still tried his best to come out as the best in his class. I was beginning to imagine how he managed to combine these two without failing in any of them. This showed how great of a man he was. The relationship with his wife is another lovely thing to note about him. She was the woman behind this very successful man.
The bulkiness of this book is something that makes readers nervous, but the good thing about this book is that the comprehensiveness of this book completely justifies its bulkiness.
This book will help the young freedom fighters who are still doing their best to get the best. The author’s story will show them that with consistency and the right approach, the cause of their fight will be achieved. For all the positive reasons which I listed above, I rate this book four out of four stars. I found a few errors in this book, and it was professionally edited. I recommend this book to lovers of memoirs. Young people who are fighting for a cause should read this book too, so that they can learn from the mistakes of the author and know how to avoid them.
