The first thing covered in the book was the fact that Americans now live an average of thirty years longer than they did a decade ago. In other words, following retirement, people will typically live longer than they would have in the previous ten years. This crucial point was established at the outset, and the author urged the reader to consider more than simply a few years of post-retirement living. Naturally, this would increase costs, so anyone preparing for retirement would need to think about setting aside enough money and utilizing the various pension plans that are available to them.

The author went on to discuss numerous pension plans, including the well-known 401(k) and IRA, social security, investment options like various types of mutual funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), real estate investment trusts (REITs), and a whole lot more, while outlining the benefits and limitations of each.

Before that, of course, he discussed changing occupations if one didn't like their current one and included a list of career aptitude tests the reader may take to identify a suitable career that could help them save enough towards retirement.

The fact that the author provided a summary of the results from each test he did and took advantage of the chance to discuss the pros and cons of each one of them is one of the book's strengths, in my opinion. This tells the reader what to expect from each one and which ones to combine to get the results they're looking for. The book also includes extensive information on the regulations governing each retirement plan, as well as its benefits and drawbacks. Also, I noticed that by providing breaks and including some jokes, the author attempted to hold the reader's interest.

The only drawback, in my opinion, is the volume of information it contains; reading about all of the pension plans, their regulations, benefits, and limitations may get a little tedious and complicated.

The book was excellently edited, and I did not find a single mistake. Due to how educational the book was and how many topics it covered regarding how to prepare for old age and retirement, I rate Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer 4 out of 4 stars.

I would definitely recommend it to everyone trying to gather information on retirement planning. I also recommend it to every adult who is not yet actively planning for retirement; you may want to get this knowledge before it is too late.
