Review of Reconfigurement
Reconfigurement by. E Alan Fleischauer seeks to increase the financial and psychological literacy around retirement preparation. Not just in regard to where, how, and how much of your money needs to be accumulated, but also as a matter of introspection in order to cultivate the right work-life mindset required to get there comfortably. It brings to light the current flaws in the retirement system, highlights hidden gems that can be very beneficial to one's retirement plan, and allows you to scrutinize your own approach, or lack thereof, to retirement. It is a comprehensive guide to getting on the road to making your retirement years as worry-free as possible, so that your Golden years can be worth their weight, or more appropriately, their years in gold.
I was particularly grateful to have come across this book. For me, it comes at a time when I realize I need to change the course of my life or suffer the pain of regret. E. Alan Fleischauer is definitely doing a public service with this book, as retirement is either ignored until it is too late, or considered too confusing to give it any more than a passing thought. But he not only makes it simple and interesting but also interactive, as the websites he prompts you to visit help significantly with understanding yourself holistically, something I had no idea was so significant to retirement up until now. Though the importance of Insurance, Investing and Medicare is always being touted these days, his approach and explanations of these topics felt refreshing. The sprinkles of humor and the interesting quotes also made what could have been a boring educational lecture into a fun, and enlightening experience. Though I will say that not all the jokes landed.
I have no real complaints honestly, Reconfigurement accomplishes what it sets out to do without feeling too heavy. He is clearly an expert in his field and kept the contents of his book concise and relevant to the topic at hand, so I have no issue with the length. I can confidently say that I find no flaws worth mentioning in this review as I found no objective grammatical errors, a testament to the quality of the editing.
After the insight that I have received from this book, I have no problem reciprocating with a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. It is in no way an exaggeration to say that the information it provides is invaluable and its delivery is exceptional. The author has nothing less than my wholehearted thanks.
As this is message so pertinent to the present age I believe that this book should be read by everyone in the workforce the world over. As the quality of life and healthcare has increased significantly and in proportion to the cost of living, people need to plan for a longer, more active life, as emphasized by this book. So it is definitely on my list for required reading.
