A Child Called It :) By David Pelzer

Post by sonyasimms2010 »

A dark and twisted, lonely childhood. However, sad it may be, this book is based on the true events of a child growing up in the land of fruits and nuts (which his mother truly was); good old California. This case of abuse was labeled the third worst abuse case in California. David Pelzer was a boy born in the 70's, who was born to a women who in his mind loved him until he turned about four and she became an alcoholic. Dealing with her past of having been a victim of abuse herself, she eventually lashed out on her family with David (soon to become the child called IT), as her target. This book is both thrilling and heartbreaking to say the least. I was on a complete roller coaster, but I loved it. Mostly because through all of his heartache and disappointment David some how finds a way to summon up enough courage to come out on top and surpass his mothers expectations. This book had me sitting on the edge of my seat hoping to see little David pull through. Due to it's addictive and endearing nature, this book is one of my favorites!! :D
