Review of Snatched Up to Heaven!
“Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done (Revelation 22:12).” This is one of the many biblical quotes featured by Jemima Paul, Ph.D., and Arvind Paul in their book Snatched Up to Heaven! It’s a quote that is attributed to our savior and Lord Jesus Christ. As our creator, Jesus granted the Pauls one request that they’d prayed for earnestly each night: that Jesus would use their children for His kingdom. At only 4 years old, Priyanka and her then two-year-old sister, Deepika, were granted visions and dreams of visiting both heaven and hell.
When it comes to devotional books, there is no better book than the Bible. I, therefore, liked that this title based its teachings on the Bible. For example, “Snatched up,” the expression which the authors used in their book title, described Priyanka and Deepika’s psychological or physical state while experiencing visions, and it was based on apostle Paul’s out-of-body experience recorded in 2 Corinthians 12:2. Given that God’s relationship with us—as His children—is founded on love, it was inspiring to note that God took the initiative of revealing more about Himself and His eternal plan through the children.
I'm sure you might have wondered frequently about the afterlife because I sure have done that a lot. The children presented a compelling perspective on this topic. Reading about hell was one of this book's most incredible and moving experiences. For one who has been brought up knowing about the concept of purgatory, I benefited a great deal from the authors’ elaboration about hell being a translation of one of the following words: Sheol, Hades, Tartarus, and Gehenna. While, in our popular culture, movies and television shows have applied their own fun spin to the concept of hell, the children, through divine will, felt and experienced hell as a natural place for damned souls. So, this book was a life-changing experience for me.
The book had a few errors that were not enough to affect the book’s rating. Given that there was nothing I disliked in this book, I rated it 5 out of 5 stars.
This book may help you uncover things about the spiritual world that may have silently puzzled you for years. I recommend it to a reader looking for a sobering book on spirituality. At the same time, due to the many biblical references, it may appeal less to a non-Christian.
