What is the role of a father during pregnancy and after birth? The First Time Father by Alfie Thomas answers this question in detail. Being a first-time parent is critical because you can make many mistakes. Alfie Thomas has given a guide on how to lessen these mistakes. He offers information on what to do during each trimester and during the hectic time of birth. The first six months of a child are crucial for the child's mental health. Hence, a father must ensure the growth of a mentally strong child.

Alfie Thomas provides the reader with detailed information critical to preparing for a baby. Topics like how to help your partner during the pregnancy, sex positions, recognizing the onset of labor, what to pack in daddy's bag, and financial decisions to make when preparing for a baby. Read all this and more in The First Time Father.

I enjoyed reading this book because it is a fountain of information on preparing for a child and future children. The author also added other people's experiences with pregnancy. I loved this because it gives a broader perspective on what to do. Alfie Thomas added advice on how to be financially ready for this period. It is unique because it adds a new layer to the book. He uses a casual and welcoming tone in his writing, which is perfect for this book because people need this advice from a friendly point of view.

Being a first-time parent is very scary, and you will need all the guidance you can acquire to prevent making bad decisions. I feel like this book covered most of the things that a parent might mean during pregnancy. The pictures in the book do not correspond with the actual visuals he was explaining. I wish he could have added images of the actual things or situations. I loved the introduction because it has what to expect in the book, but it was too repetitive and unnecessarily long.

Alfie Thomas is speaking from experience, which is evident from the information he has given. I appreciate this because most people prefer authentic authors who have gone through the actual experiences themselves. He has organized this book perfectly, explaining the first stages of pregnancy, the labor, and the aftermath of birth. Everything is chronological and easy to follow and understand. I did not find any grammatical or spelling errors. This is a beautifully written book, and it is for this reason that I give this book a 4 out of 4 stars rating.

No parent is perfect, but being prepared makes you a better parent. The First Time Father is a must-read for fathers. I recommend this book to first-time fathers and partners. The book physically and mentally prepares you to be the best first-time father.
