Review of Seeking... Finding... Healing...
Do you ever feel some disconnect between what the younger you would have wanted to do and what you are currently doing? If yes, the book Seeking ... Finding ... Healing ...: The Complete Guide to Self-Directed Inner Family Healing by Becky Lu Jackson is the one you should look for. In the book, the author has used the psychological perspective to come up with some various theories that might help us understand this disconnect. Becky Lu Jackson has come up with a way in which we can try and communicate with both our younger selves and our older selves through visualizations. These visualizations help us to be accountable for the life we are living now.
In the book, the author has tried to show us that we should not feel resentment toward ourselves but rather interrupt and replace the old negative internal chatter with new sane self-talk. When we feel that we have made a mistake, the author has advised us not to beat ourselves up too much because God knows what is best for my life, and is bigger than any mistake I can make, and is in charge of my life’s lessons. Becky Lu has also told us that our physical self, mental self, and spiritual self are our board of directors and that we should learn to embrace all of them.
While reading this book, I enjoyed the many lessons that I learnt. I learnt that some of our old beliefs are not necessarily correct, but through topic inventories, you can try to figure out how you came to such conclusions. I learned that we should not resent others because resentment is like taking poison and waiting for another person to die. Through resentment, we are actually harming ourselves more. I also learnt that we should treat our body well because it is the vessel for our existence, and without it, we would not be. From the book, I liked the fact that the author provided a background for the book and outlined the expectations for each chapter. The author also told some stories to help us understand the points better. I liked how Becky Lu has given us the step-by-step process for inner family healing.
I found nothing to dislike about this book. I would say the author did everything as it should have been done.
I would give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. This is because the author did everything perfectly, and hence I did not find any grammatical or spelling errors. The book was professionally edited. Beware; there is some use of profane words. I would recommend this book to all teenagers and adults who want to create peace with their past.
