Reconfigurement by E. Allan Fleischauer is a book about planning after retirement. It is about reconfiguring your life for later years, particularly after retirement. The book is from the perspective of American society. It drew all the examples from the American system, although it is applicable almost anywhere. According to Fleischauer, it is best to plan for the years after retirement because statistics show that people now live longer than they used to before. Similarly, not everybody is comfortable just sitting down and not doing anything active after retiring. This situation calls for the need to plan for a second career after reaching forty or fifty years.

Fleischauer takes us through the steps to reconfigurement planning. He looks at career assessments and guides us on how to go about selecting a second career. Allan Fleischauer also looks at retirement planning. Planning for retirement involves looking at what to do after retirement. You can choose to be active or lead a quiet life. Another aspect is social security. He also looks into the investment choices available that one can get into and their pros and cons.

I liked how Allan Fleischauer simplified the topics, making them easy to understand. In his delivery, he sometimes gives a brief history of the subject before delving into it. Mostly in my reading, I nodded to Fleischauer’s explanations. Something else that I liked was how he delivered his content. He is funny and makes reading fun. Most of the topics handled in the book would be very technical, but the delivery made it lively and easy to understand.

The book was exceptionally edited. I did not come across any errors in the course of my reading. I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars. There was nothing I did not like in the book. I laughed for the better part of the book with his jokes while reading about serious issues. What can be better than that?

I can recommend this book to anyone approaching retirement and anyone interested in having a change in their career life. The guide Fleischauer offers in this book is invaluable. The information in this novel is not just for retirees. It is for anyone who aspires for more in their life. Important aspects, like healthcare, wills and trusts, and investment choices, are handled well by Fleischauer. To top everything, the author also recommends reading for in-depth reading.
