Should we be putting all of our efforts into working hard, saving money, and investing for retirement? E. Alan Fleischauer recommends a better approach in Reconfigurement. The author made comparisons between traditional retirement practices and contemporary retirement practices. Fleischauer, who has worked as a financial counselor for many years, felt compelled to correct the errors made by other motivational authors. They either emphasize the conventional retirement model or the current iterative process. He highlights the value of having a plan and lists the steps that must be taken for it to be effective. Man has been living longer and safer lives because of scientific, medical, and technological developments. Science has taken man beyond his wildest dreams and wishes. So, in order to benefit from the duration that life offers, careful planning is necessary. The book focuses on several well-known and well-established retirement schemes, such as life insurance, 401(k)s, investments, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid insurance, and many others. All are geared towards helping people maximize their retirement period.

This book promotes lifelong learning, care, and well-being. It offers solutions that start during one's working years and last well into retirement.

Reconfigurement is written in a casual and conversational manner. Each chapter has a topical heading to guide the reader throughout the book. The author interspersed jokes and dry humor within each chapter. This helps to alleviate any boredom the reader would experience. He uses quotes from famous individuals and simple illustrative examples to drive home pertinent points. Tables are provided where necessary for clarification and easy understanding. Questions are posed to the reader to ponder. The author provides doable solutions that regular men and women can utilize and follow.

The book has several positive aspects. I love the fact that it is very detailed and well-researched. Being a financial advisor, he is able to meticulously work out the mathematical calculations of the social security, 401(k), and IRA benefits a person would receive upon retirement. I am truly impressed with his vast knowledge of the different retirement plans available to seniors. At the end of the book, he provides additional reading materials for those who want to delve deeper into the area of retirement.

However, what I did not like was the fact that the author advocates working much longer without stipulating when to cease working. There comes a point when people want to take a break from their daily work routine and unwind permanently. When should that be? It is unclear. Also, as many seniors change jobs twice or three times throughout their lifetimes, the idea of reconfiguration is already in use.

The book was professionally edited, as I did not discover any errors. Due to the complex nature of this book, I rated this book 4 out of 5 stars. I recommend it to mature adults, especially those seniors thinking about and/or on the verge of retirement.

It contains a wealth of financial advice. I will definitely recommend it to older readers and students. Your review, on the other hand, is well written; thank you for the review.

It's very true how people don't look forward to retirement. People are really focused on working really hard but not really thinking about what will happen when retirement comes around. Author Alan explains the importance of long term planning and its benefit to retirement. Thank you for the review.
