Freedom doesn't come by just sitting and waiting for it. We fight for it. Hardly do we read memoirs written by freedom fighters because some die and some don't have the strength to write about it. Berrah has proven to be courageous.

A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a memoir that tells us about how he fought for his country's freedom. Berrah was born in Aïn Beïda a small town in Algeria. He lost his dad and his twin brothers at a young age, and he was left with his mother, sisters, and his father's children from different mothers. He was doing so well in school and with the support of his mother, he went to Paris to further his education. He faced a lot of difficulties, such as racism and slavery, and he was bent on bringing freedom to his people. As a medical student, he joined politics in school, and everything was going well until his Algeria brothers were killed. What happened after the deaths? You already know that he succeeded, but don't you want to know how? Read to clear your curiosity.

Reading this book is one of the best things that has happened to me. Berrah over time, has proven to be not only a freedom fighter but also a good storyteller. He writes so well that if you are not careful, you might not be able to do anything until you are done reading. This book can keep the reader's eyes hooked from the start to the end. The mother's death was a sad one, and I understood how sad he was. I cried after her death because she wouldn't be there to reap the fruits of her labor. I love that the author used pictures to write; it made the book real and imaginable. He didn't rush the book, and it made every scene count. The author used this book to convey a message to every young person: fight for what you believe in. This book is not only educational but also encouraging. I love the way he composed his words. It takes a brave person to write a memoir, so I admire the author's bravery.

There was only one thing I didn't like about the book: the pages in a chapter were long, and I got bored at some point because it was as though I wasn't making progress with my reading. When he was talking about his people, he said, "There was great harmony among the families; husbands were very respectful to their wives and vice versa." "Divorces were rare." I can't even tell you how I felt after reading that because in the generation we find ourselves in, women are believed to be the only ones to respect their husbands, and husbands give no respect because we are taught they provide for the family. I think that's why divorce rates are high. The book didn't just open my eyes to political history; it also opened my eyes to the need for husband and wife to respect each other.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars because, despite the long chapters, I still enjoyed reading it and learned from it. I just found one error, but it didn't stop me from enjoying the book. I recommend this to aspiring leaders and those who love political and freedom books.
