Review of Winning the War on Cancer
Winning the War on Cancer: The Epic Journey Towards a Natural Cure is a nonfiction novel by Sylvie Beljanski that explores an alternative cure for cancer that is a natural one. Sylvie Beljanski was trained as a lawyer but found herself in the science field without a proper background. Her parents, Mirko and Monique Beljanski were scientists working at the Pasteur Institute in Paris. Mirko, being a scientist, developed two plant extracts, Pao pereira and Rauwolfia vomitoria, which produced excellent results against pancreatic and ovarian stem cancer cells. Few individuals in the French government were not pleased by the results of the two plant extracts, and they did everything in their power to obliterate Dr. Mirko Beljanski's research efforts. He was arrested and poisoned, and shortly after, he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, and the French government also ransacked his laboratory with the equipment. After the death of Mirko Beljanski, Sylvie declared to continue the valuable work of her father in the science field. A lot is to be grabbed from this novel as Sylvie intertwines her personal life story with scientific facts.
The pros I found in the book are: first, the author has exposed how pharmaceutical companies are money-oriented and how the government acts unlawfully towards companies trying to compete with them. It is sad to see the government suppressing and obliterating researchers of natural remedies who are trying to provide an alternative cure for cancer. She depicts well how hard it is for natural medicine to compete with pharmaceutical companies and their money-making synthetic drugs. I love the tone the author used in this novel. Her tone was impressive and convincing, which will be embraced by most readers. I was also impressed by Sylvie Beljanski's command of the medical vocabulary she employed in this novel. The author also included websites for any reader wanting to learn more. What I loved most in the book is how the author begins each chapter with inspiring quotes to catch the reader's attention throughout the book. The book shines a light on cancer treatment and the benefits of having friends. Sylvie Beljanski was able to revamp the Beljanski Foundation with the help of many great friends who worked with her father. The writing style was impeccable. In addition, the author also included pictures of scenes in the book.
I found one flaw in the book, which happened to be a grammatical error. Otherwise, the book was well-written and professionally edited.
The novel deserves a rating of 5 out of 5 stars because of its many pros. This book has convinced me that cancer has a cure, especially if there could be extensive research on natural plants.
I recommend this book to researchers, enthusiasts interested in learning about natural cancer cures, and anyone involved with cancer.
