David Jones, in his book, How to Do Life Without the Wife, opens up about the realities of marriage and divorce. The book is about a man's journey to find himself after the tragedy of divorce happens to him. In our world today, people are generally dealing with a lot of issues ranging from social to emotional to financial to even relationship-related. The book may serve as a constant reminder of the inevitabilities in our ever-changing world. Nothing is guaranteed, feelings are fickle, and people change over time.

In recent years, the number of divorces in the world has inexplicably increased, and this is due to many factors. The author takes us on his journey, from being married to falling out of place in the marriage and even into his divorce. He gave us a bird's-eye view of what life seems to be like for many divorced men. He explained the negative impact it can have on a man's life. Furthermore, he went on in subsequent chapters to offer solutions for dealing with the aftermath of divorce. The author talked about several pressing issues men face in reality, like losing weight, keeping a healthy diet, exercising, meditating, spending time with nature, and so on. He went on to explain the exchange of roles between himself and his wife. She knows the amount of the electricity bill and other bills in the house, but he doesn't. He gives her 95 per cent of his salary and lets her take care of the mortgage, bills, and everything else in the house.

He documented his losses, failures, and shortcomings and also took us on a step-by-step process of finding himself again. He talked about friendships that got broken during and after the divorce and how that affected him mentally. It was a tough journey, but he was able to conquer his fears, find a purpose for his life, and thrive. Particularly while reading the book, I appreciated the author's sincerity. He told us hard truths that are not always spoken about. As a man, having to play the role of a wife in a marriage is damaging to the ego, and even though some men are facing that reality today, not everyone will have the courage to say it as David Jones did in this book. He was bold to talk about this, and I commend that. The book is also an inspiring and informative piece about knowing our self-worth and growing healthy habits.

While reading the book, I noticed a few errors, but it was still professionally edited. However, this does not affect my overall enjoyment or rating of the book.

The author used a few medical terms to explain some sexual deficiencies, so I would say a more mature audience would enjoy it better. Other than that, there were no profane words used throughout the book, which made it suitable for all age groups.

The book deserves a 5 out of 5 stars because of its delivery, formatting, and relevance of the topic discussed in our society. I recommend this book to divorced men. It will help them get over the negative effects of divorce and set them on the right path to enjoy life and prepare for remarriage if they want. I would also like to recommend this book to marriage counsellors. It contained nuggets that will help them in their careers.

This is a good book to read. I like that the author did not hold any info as he shared his experience with divorce and how he coped with its aftermath. I think all men should read this masterpiece.

I grew up with my mother because my parents got divorced, so I know the feeling of the aftermath of divorce on spouse and children. It leads to depression and isolation. I would like to know the author's ideas on divorce and its aftermath.

Divorce will affect men and women. I thought only women show vulnerability but Jones did show it. I am interested to get a copy of this book so I will know how Jones handles his life after divorce and how he copes. Great review!

This book is highly beneficial to divorced or widowed men who are struggling to live without their spouse. The author is blunt and honest about the facts he stated. Nice review!

I also appreciate the author's sincerity. I like how he told us hard truths that are not always spoken about. Truly a man, having to play the role of a wife in a marriage is damaging to the ego, and even though some men are facing that reality today not many can own up.

Sometimes, the issues leading to divorce are unbelievably minute. Things like, "a man performing a woman's role."
I'm happy the author was able to find his feet eventually.
Thanks for the well-written review.
