Review of Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book
Every golfer who aspires to become a professional player needs a little guidebook to improve his or her skills. Kalliope Barlis' Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book offers exactly what every golfer needs to become a pro player. Using the concept of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), the author emphasizes how one can improve his or her performance by developing the mind. The book provides exercises to hone one's physical and mental skills in playing golf.
In this book, Kalliope Barlis uses plenty of similar principles and techniques expressed in the first book. However, this book explains more nuances about the game. There are little things that many do not usually consider while playing golf. I think what I like the most about this book is the fact that it dives deep into what we already know about the game. For example, we all know that practice makes you better at what you do. However, I learned from this book that practicing all the time won't be effective if you do not focus on the quality of your work. More practice doesn't equate to mastery; the quality of your routine does. In golf, repeatedly hitting the ball means nothing if one won't reflect on each shot made and find its positive quality.
There are plenty of practical exercises that one can follow. They are easy to do, and I feel like if you do them all time, it will make a lot of difference. I particularly like the practices that you can do at home. You can do some mind techniques, watch tournaments, and do stuff to maintain your balance. The book also emphasizes the use of all your senses when you are in the game. Playing golf involves both internal and physical strategies, and I like how the book tries to be very comprehensive.
I don't have issues with this book, as I feel like it delivers exactly what it intends to deliver. The author is straightforward without being boring. It is a short book, so you can just carry it around and pick it up every time you need some reminders or motivation.
There isn't any reason to rate this book other than a 5 out of 5 stars. I don't have anything to dislike. This guidebook tries to be comprehensive while still maintaining brevity. I didn't notice any errors in the text, so I believe the editing quality for this book is the most excellent. Obviously, people who indulge in the game of golf will this book the most useful. If you are curious about the game or you just want to improve your skills, you might pick up something valuable from this little book.
