Review of A Dream For Peace
A Dream for Peace, written by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, is a nonfiction book. In his memoir, he recounts his childhood memories of Algeria under French colonial rule. As a Muslim growing up, he talks about finding the motivation to fight for Algeria’s independence from France. His sad experiences include losing his father when he was a young boy and his mother while he was in college. He then acquired a very high level of education and even went on to personally serve the president of an African nation. He participated in many diplomatic activities after his first two marriages did not work out. Furthermore, he later married Titi, the love of his life, and remained married to her until the end. The battle for independence and freedom from colonizers by numerous African countries is covered in this book. It also discusses the conflicts and overthrows that occurred in several African nations, both before and after independence.
The author's commitment to fighting for his nation's independence was what I felt to be this book's most intriguing aspect. He never let the risks or difficulties he encountered stop him from working toward his goals. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was arrested by the police while acting as an activist at a medical school in France. However, he never gave up and persisted in his enthusiastic efforts. It is wonderful that he approaches life with an open mind. This is a thorough autobiography of a hero who made a big contribution to world peace. The book helped me learn a lot about how powerful fighting for humanity is. The book's inclusion of images to help the readers better understand what the author was describing is something else I also liked.
There was nothing that I disliked about the book; it was insightful and well-written, even though the book was too long and some vocabulary was challenging to pronounce. Apart from that, I enjoyed reading this book because it kept my interest the entire time. I liked the way he used words and idioms to effectively and relatable portray his emotions and thoughts in his writing. I appreciate that he included footnotes at the end of each chapter.
I am rating this book, “A Dream for Peace,” 5 out of 5 stars because it is a powerful and fascinating book to read, and I enjoyed it. Likewise, I only came across one grammatical error; therefore, it was professionally edited.
I would recommend this book to people who find an interest in aspects of history, freedom fighting, and family life.
