Reconfigurement: Reconfiguring Your Life at Any Stage and Planning Ahead was written by E. Alan Fleischauer who worked in finance his whole life. The book is about finding a job you enjoy and enjoying life before retiring, while thinking of your next steps, investments, budgeting, retirement plan, insurance plan, trust funds and health care plan. Author introduces “intimidating” topics and explains them the way everyone can understand them, he uses humor to keep the reader engaged and the book is very straightforward. Books about finances are normally hard to read but this one was not.

The book is easy to read and understand. The author seems very knowledgeable on the topics he’s writing about. The book is not confusing and it makes you feel like you learned something new. Reading that book will definitely help me navigate my financial plan in the future. I learned a lot from the book and it will help me find resources to learn more about finances. I also love how he took the time to write some paragraphs about the history of insurance policies. It was interesting to read how it all started.

I didn’t like the author using words like “yikes” and “darn” and telling readers to give themselves an applause when finishing another chapter. It felt like he thinks the book is more boring than it actually was. It took me less than 2 days to read. I also wish cryptocurrencies were mentioned in a separate chapter and I wish he’d write step by step paragraphs on starting investing topics.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. If the author wouldn’t say the book was boring at the end of every chapter I’d rate it 5 stars. I’d recommend it to people that recently moved to America (maybe even to Canada) or are in early stages of planning their retirement and are not familiar with financial vocabulary. It is also a great book for someone planning on getting married or starting a family. The book is eye opening and it makes you think of topics we normally don’t talk about. I hope the author decides to write another more detailed book in the future.

As someone who recently moved to North America and was unfamiliar with all the terms from the financial world, I'm happy I took the time to read this book. I feel like my understanding of the American financial and retirement system is already getting better.
