As my second time reading this book, I can testify that no amount of praise will compensate for the quality this masterpiece provides. In It Together by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes proves the author to be a man of detail and eloquence in writing. The thoughts and concepts Eckhart presents allow the reader to dwell on the deeper meaning of life. Eckhart beautifully captures the true essence of love - not romantic love, but the deep love everyone should encompass. I read the first version of the book and was already captivated by the insightful outlook on life this book provided; reading it for the second time made me grow to love it even more. Eckhart mentions philosophical points about what it means to love oneself and others; he also beautifully articulates the details in a way that is digestible and easy for the reader to understand.

Eckhart uses the example of not relying on earthly substances or ideologies (for example, alcohol, a bad habit, religion, etc.) to define love and inner peace. I highly resonate with and agree with this concept and wish more people would specifically understand this and live by it. This book provides examples of how humans define success and peace, which Eckhart contrasts with philosophical concepts to demonstrate that superficial things do not matter when finding inner peace. The occasional references he makes explaining things further allow the reader to fully grasp the point of view Eckhart attempts to cement, which is successfully delivered. No matter how the reader interprets the message, all readers can unanimously agree that peace and happiness come from within.

While I agreed with most of the concepts in this book, there was one concept that I may not have fully come to agree with solely because I still have questions about it. Eckhart mentions that evil does not exist. He then gives examples of what appears to be evil that is highly subjective to the point of view. I wholeheartedly agree with this, but I think to look for love and peace, evil must exist. You can't necessarily learn about love, peace, and forgiveness without the counter-ideologies existing. Nevertheless, he provides excellent examples of why he states evil does not exist, which is one of the main reasons I don't dismiss his opinion.

Despite this, I believe this book should be considered a model classic for adults of all ages to read. The book is exceptionally well edited, and my disagreement with the author did not overshadow the book's valuable message. As I read more, I noticed new details were added, facilitating the book's message. Therefore, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is an excellent read for those in need of soul searching. Any doubts about self-worth will be reassessed for the better after reading this book. This book is for everyone who is grown and has experienced life and may have questions to find answers to the many questions about life. This book would intrigue philosophy lovers and be great for a philosophy class. I strongly recommend this book to anyone looking to grow spiritually and break free from a negative mindset.
