My brave face by Heather Simpson, is a non-fiction novel in which we learn the story of a mother's life through her son's disability. It tells tales of Stephen Simpson (the child) of how through trials and tribulations was able to live positively through out his life. The book written with the time frame of 1940- 2014.

From the oncent of the book to the finish, we see how brave parenthood can be, the sacrifices parents make for their children is often life changing. The book left me to reflect on my actions as a human being towards people with disabilities, how important it is to spread love and kindness to everyone in the world.

I would rate the book 5/5 because it's a book that gives a reflection on parenthood, love, friendship, historical moments through out the world and family. I would recommend this book to anyone going through life challenges, especially parents, people living with disabilities and caregivers of disabled people.

The main strengths is the emotional support Heather Simpson gets from friends, carers and relatives. The historical moments within the book with evidence of pictures, and lastly the book has some reflect on religion and how sometimes it can be a source of strength in trying times
One weakness I identified in the book is lack of insight into Ray Simpson's life( the father), the book doesn't give much information as from Ray's side as a father. I would have loved to see his point of view.
