Review of Reconfigurement
The book Reconfigurement is one of those books with a title that does not say much about its content. At first, I was wondering how the author, E. Alan Fleischauer, came about the title of the book. However, I was amazed to find a beautiful connection between the word "reconfiguration" and the content of the book. The book is all about reconfiguring your life, your health, your pension plan, planning against abruptly quitting your job, aging, and its associated challenges. In order words, this means planning every stage of life.
"What income protections (and at what cost?)? When do you start the income protection scheme? How long do you plan? What are your goals?". These are some of the interesting questions raised in the book. These questions directly affect the life of every individual. Interestingly, these questions were adequately treated in this book, and I found them very useful. I found them useful because they answered a lot of questions concerning retirement. Since I have pondered on the questions for a while, it was very enlightening to across the answers.
Another thing I found interesting about the book was that it explained the increase in modern-life expectancy. In the United State of America, for example, life expectancy has increased from 65 years to 80 years and above. Factors such as advances in diagnosis, drug prescriptions, diets, exercises, and technology have contributed to the increase in life expectancy. For this reason, the increase in life expectancy should also be incorporated into various pension schemes
The drawback I encountered was that there was no introductory quote. The introductory part of a book is similar to the first scene of a movie. In my opinion, this part of the book must capable of arousing the reader's interest. This is the reason I believe the introductory quote is quite desirable in the first chapter of any book.
This book is well-written. It is chronologically presented with the right sentence cohesion. Also, the arguments are logically presented. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I could not find any errors in the book. It was remarkably edited. This book is enlightening, educating, and easy to read. Though I found an issue, I believe it is highly subjective, and there is no reason to deduct a star.
This book emphasizes the importance of planning. To me, planning cuts across every phase of life. For this reason, I recommend this book to individuals who are interested in preventing financial bankruptcy at every stage of their lives. Life is short and should be enjoyed. Reconfigure your life away from bad health, bad habits, depression, and financial ruin.
