Don’t you think you should be prepared for retirement? Well, most people will answer yes to this question but, in the meantime, will have no plan whatsoever for when the time comes. The book Reconfigurement aims at those exact people who know it is important to plan ahead. E. Alan Fleischauer is a financial advisor who will help by revising all you must consider for the golden years in a series of fast-paced chapters.

Reconfigurement brings the necessary focus to an important phase of our lives that we may not be as apt to deal with in the future. E. Alan Fleischauer helps us to revolutionize (reconfigure) both the present and the future, bringing all his experience in finance to advise on the best practices that will bring us peace, joy, and fulfillment later.

The points I like the most are the simple ways the author uses to explain some topics that otherwise would be difficult to understand, especially if you consider that the target audience is older. Things like saving for retirement are something everybody knows they should be doing, but does not know how, and the book enlightens you about it. However, the bright star I say is the topics that you usually do not think about a lot, like: do you need life insurance or do you want it?

I did not enjoy the jokes alongside the book, the first ones fit fine, but they become just a lot. On almost every page there is a small joke, not mentioning some highlighted boxes in every chapter. This turns out to be a major downside for me.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The book is professionally edited, and the topics are organized and easy to understand. I considered taking 1 star on the issue with the use of jokes but decided to leave it since the problems may be personal and I am not exactly the target audience.

I recommend this reading to people who are going into their late life, but even for younger ones since there is never too early to be prepared for the future. Another aspect of the book is that it shows how a person can start over completely from scratch even though they are not in the first half of their life. Fleischauer gives a new perspective for us, showing that there are many more pathways and goals we can expect for retirement.
