Reconfigurement: Reconfiguring Your Life at Any Stage and Planning Ahead is a non-fiction book written by E. Alan Fleischauer in 2022. In the book, the author remarks how people are living longer than before, and therefore, it is crucial to plan your retirement wisely. He motivates his readers, telling them it is never too late to start reconfiguring their life and that they should plan their 60's and 70's in a way that gives them the freedom to work for their dreams and do what they love instead of being dependent on their paycheck. The book covers topics such as career assessments, insurance policies, social security, wills, and so on.

This book is memorable with the easy-going style it was written in. It is saturated with jokes and short breaks so the readers have time to comprehend what they read and make it less tedious for the brain. One of my personal favorites was the following at the very end of chapter six: "After I spoke with my financial advisor, I slept like a baby. I woke up every hour and cried!". That’s funny to me. He also seemed honest with his likings and opinions, which was crucial to me. Another thing I loved about this book is it is very well-edited. There were merely any errors and the ones present weren’t even that noticeable. Alan Fleischauer talks with his readers one-on-one and provides them with resources, such as www.123test.com and many more which help people understand their needs and wants and make planning the future far easier. The book is very informative and could be used to not only reconfigure your life and plan your future but also help you understand your passion and give you the strength to go after it.

Despite all the positive aspects, I'd like to point out a few flaws as well. As I mentioned earlier, the book was saturated with jokes, and while some of them were funny, for the elder audience that this book was mainly written for the jokes may seem unnecessary. If I were to write this book, I'd significantly reduce them. As I went through the book, the jokes seemed more and more out of place and made the book feel half-hearted to me, so maybe the author could try to take a few of them out. It’d also be nice if the chapters had headlines so a reader has a better understanding of what’s to come next and look out for it.

For me, the book was very informative, the author seemed genuine and the flaws I mentioned in the previous paragraph are merely my opinion and pretty easy to correct. Therefore, for the great editing and content, I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars. I could see how Alan had put his all into this book and tried to make it the best version of itself.

I would recommend this book to an audience aged 20 and older who is looking for great advice and a realistic outlook on life. You might think that a 20-year-old is very young to start thinking about retirement, but as I said before, this book is not only about retirement, and anyways, what is wrong with getting some knowledge ahead of time? I think this book will definitely help people reconfigure their life and be more aware of themselves.
