In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All (2nd Edition Hardcover from B&N) by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes is one of the best philosophical books to have come out recently. This book covers many different elements of the human experience and begins by stripping the reader to their bare bones before slowly rebuilding them into a person with new outlooks and a better understanding of themselves. It is a great self-help book for readers through it’s many topics such inner peace, true love, and consciousness.
One of the positive aspects of this book is how it is relevant to readers no matter what part of their life they are in. This was my second time reading the book and I found myself focusing on completely different sections of the book this time than compared to my first read-through. The book covers so many topics and concepts that there truly is something for everyone in it. I feel like this is a book I could revisit many times during my life and I would constantly learn something new because of the ideas that are presented in this book.
One of the more negative aspects of this book is that I found it to be a little dense in places. During my first read-through, there were many topics that I had a hard time fully grasping due to not really having a philosophical background. However, I would say that it was not as big of an issue during my second read-through. While I still feel like the book can get a little dense, I think the more you read it, the more you understand and I don’t see it as an issue that should turn away any interested readers.
Overall, I would give this book a 5 out of 5 stars. I truly believe that this book has helped me feel more in charge of my own life and gain a better understanding of who I am as a person. The second time reading this book made so many things in my life seem to fall into place and finally make sense in the grand scheme of things. I also found that this book was exceptionally well edited and I did not see any errors while reading.
I would recommend this book to anyone who feels as if they need guidance in their life in some way. I believe the author writes in a way that tries to make his ideas accessible to people regardless of their background, gender, sexuality or religion. This book focuses on unconditional love and because of this, I think it tries very hard to appeal to the general masses without making anyone feel left out or unwelcome. I think people with a background in philosophy might have a particular interest in this book, but I feel like anyone interested in self-help would benefit greatly from reading this book.
