Review of The Dream Primer
The Dream Primer by Jeff Meyer encourages the reader to pursue their dreams and make the world a better place by following what inspires them. Meyer worked as a coach and pastor to help many make their dreams a reality. He shows that everyone has a unique gift to contribute to the world. Meyer digs deep into what inspires people’s dreams and proposes questions and exercises to help guide the readers to their calling. Meyer addresses how our fears can hold us back from fulfilling our dreams. He shows how those fears can be overcome or even used to fuel us. This book not only helps find what fuels our dreams, but it also provides a meaningful plan that will help turn a daydream into fruition.
I enjoyed reading The Dream Primer and have already suggested this book to many of my friends and family. Meyer did a good job at explaining his points by including examples of those he’s helped, then provided exercises the reader can use to find their path. This book felt like an uplifting talk with a friend over coffee. It left me inspired to make my dreams a reality and made me feel like a better person because reading it. Meyer also made the point the world can benefit from you making your dream a reality. This resonated with me because I often feel selfish for chasing my dreams. Meyer shows that not only is it not selfish, but it most likely benefits those around you. Meyer provided building blocks for the reader to find their true path in a way that is constructive and clear.
I can not think of a negative point for this book. It flowed very well, its points were made clear, and it was informative and inspiring. I did not find any editing errors or spelling mistakes. There was no profanity or sexual content. Meyer did a great job at sharing his experience and information factually and neutrally so that it was very clear the purpose of the book was to inspire and not push an agenda.
My rating for The Dream Primer is 5 out of 5 stars. The book flowed nicely which made me eager to read more. The information was clear and relatable which made me feel like my goals are attainable. The case studies and exercises were explained well. This kept the reader engaged and made The Dream Primer more than just an inspirational book, it made it a life tool that should find a permanent home on your bookshelf. Meyer did a really good job at molding his experience and knowledge into a tool that can help others.
I would recommend The Dream Primer to many, really anyone who wants to better their life by pursuing their dreams. As mentioned before, I have already recommended this book to my friends and family and plan to continue recommending it. This would be a perfect book for anyone feeling down on their luck or unfulfilled. Meyer does make the point that God puts these ideas or dreams in our heads for us to follow, making the world a better place by contributing in our unique way. This may not align with everyone’s beliefs, however, I feel like Meyer did a good job of being encouraging and factual without being pushy. For this reason, I would still recommend this book to those who aren’t particularly religious. The framework Meyer provides for all dreams is solid for anyone looking to improve.
