Review of Reconfigurement
The period of retirement is a crucial time for all workers; they sit to enjoy their labor for the years they have been working. However, this period has become a big problem for retired workers. Even before retirement, the question remains 'survival after retirement.' Within all this, Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer has coined a solution to most of the questions bothering most workers about their survival after retirement. The book is a first-person narrative that induced personal experience in counseling workers and those close to their retirement age. The 13-chapter book's setting is America.
E. Alan Fleischauer is an experienced Financial Advisor and an American worker who worked in the American financial service industry. E. Alan Fleischauer had a study on Retirement Planning; this brought out what this book entails. Reconfigurement was birthed during his study online for the Retirement Income Certified Professional designation. The book explores retirement and how to plan for it, factors that can instigate planning, and aid good results. With his over 20 years experience, the author illuminates on the fear of workers concerning retirement. This book serves as a solution to most of the problems American workers are saddled with as concerning job creation, business management, investment, and maximizing of income.
My favorite part of the book is chapter two. The chapter discusses how to manage income. It exemplifies the general saying, "cut your coat according to your cloth." It summarizes the fact that management of income is an essential part of retirement planning.
The writer spoke about seeing failure as an opportunity and gave insights into seeing opportunities in every problem. He expatiated with these sentences. "Now, think about the last time you had a crisis. You probably felt as though you were in pain or danger. We've all been there. But, the other side of the yuan (the Chinese word for coin) is opportunity."
Also, the writer was able to establish the benefits of Reconfigurement (as written in the book and not as the title) in a way that will inspire workers to plan. The author explained further, "As you think about Reconfigurement financial planning, be forewarned that the process will be rewarding and challenging. Don't let that stop you. Remember, it's an opportunity. Take advantage of this moment and make it a turning point in your life."
Interestingly, the writer made the book relatable, and I like his writing style. He was able to carry his readers sequentially. He wrote the book like he was speaking with them. The book is very educative. Therefore, I rate it 5 out of 5 stars.
The only thing I am uncomfortable with in the book is that it is written in an informal form due to some words used. For the quality of information conveyed in the book, I would have loved it to have been written more professionally.
I recommend this book to all workers, both government and private. Also, the book is excellent for both old and young workers to plan for retirement.
