Review of Reconfigurement
One of the things that everyone should aim for is financial stability. Many people labor for the moment in order to enjoy life, buy the things they desire, travel the world, experience new things, and keep up with what's trending. Sadly, a lot of people don't seem to understand the need of planning ahead, particularly for when they will retire. This book by E. Alan Fleischauer addressed that issue. He was well-qualified to create this book, which I would characterize as a compendium of retirement options, thanks to his significant years as a business owner, financial services executive, merchant banker, and venture capitalist.
Reconfigurement offers advice on how to properly consider your options so that you can retire with financial security. The author helped his audience prepare for the future by introducing relevant concepts in each chapter. He began by emphasizing the need of having a source of income. He then discussed the online resources that could assist them in retirement preparation. Additionally, he provided ideas for how to use their income wisely to create retirement plans in a way that even a layperson could understand. He covered a wide range of subjects, including insurance, social security, investment possibilities, and even subjects like long-term care and wills and trusts that can be sensitive for some. The fact that Fleischauer didn't set unrealistic expectations is something else I appreciate about Reconfigurement. He discussed the drawbacks of each considered option.
Fleischauer's overuse of unnecessary side comments, which, in my opinion, made it appear less professionally written, is what I consider to be its main criticism. I suppose he wanted to make it more interesting to read or keep readers from getting bored, but I think readers like myself would prefer comments that were more direct. It is also apparent that he placed an excessive amount of importance on jokes found online. It would be more striking if he used such portions of the book for motivation or uplifting quotes.
I would rate this book five out of five stars. It is very informative, and I believe all the details that people need to plan their retirement were covered in great detail. My comments in the preceding paragraph might not have the same impact on every reader.
I highly recommend this book to both adults and young professionals. This book may serve as a tool to help everyone realize that we won't always have employment. We need to start planning our retirement as early as possible.
