Reconfigurement is a textbook written by E. Alan Fleischauer. It seeks to educate the reader on how to organise their working life and how to plan for a happy retirement. The argument of the book is based on the facts that people's life span has increased and they are likely to run out of money. It also suggests that most people are in jobs that they don't enjoy. It is because of these three facts that the book points out that people need to relook into their current jobs, their existing financial plans and the arrangements that they have about their investments. The book does this by explaining in detail how the reader can identify the jobs that suit them. Once that is done, the book gives different ways of securing the job through different available insurance services. The book then takes the reader through different options for investing their lifetime earnings. Finally, the book explains how the reader can disburse their assets by using a will at the end of their lives. The main point of the book is that workers should try and have fun when they are still working and not wait until they retire. This is a book that will convince the reader to reconfigure their lives as far as a career, investment and retirement are concerned.

The strength of the book lies in its ability to deliver very dull facts about financial affairs in a very palatable manner. The book does not expect the reader to trudge through all the details. It suggests that one can read the parts that are relevant to their situation. The other good thing about the book is the care with which it has laid down its case for a change of retirement plan. The case is built on indisputable facts about the longevity of people's lives and being in careers that are boring and tiresome.

It is not easy to find any fault with this book. It was well-written and very convincing. But I do not see why the author should even bother to create comic relief in the book. Anyone choosing to read this book should do so to get hard facts about the financial reality and not entertainment. The inclusion of jokes in the book is therefore not very essential.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The book has exceeded expectations in the objective it wanted to achieve. The editor and the proofreader have done their job quite well. Not even a single typing or grammatical was found in the text.

I recommend this book to all people who would like to straighten up their financial situation.
