Review of Reconfigurement
Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is a non- fiction book written to provide advice for financial planning and preparing adequately for your retirement. The book is split up into a number of chapters and covers information regarding different investments, health-care, insurance, social security and how to go about finding a new career if that’s something you want to do amongst a number of other things. Each chapter tackles different topic and provides suggestions and help about how to go about it and where to look for further advice and support if you need it. The chapters are quite short and often there will be things that the author suggests you should look into yourself before moving on to the next chapter, which makes reading it quite an interactive experience, if you follow his advice.
The book is very well-written. The author clearly understands the subject matter in infinite detail and knows a great deal of information about every area that is covered in the book. The author already works in the profession and therefore he is up to date with current practices and rules that need to be followed. His book provides information that is relevant for people who reading the book right here and now. The book is also very easy to read. E. Alan Fleischauer is clearly very aware that reading about finances and financial advice isn’t something that a lot of people enjoy, so he makes a concerted effort to add in jokes, witty comments and he really tries hard to keep the book as light and humorous as possible. It’s actually a very easy book to read, which I think is quite an achievement from the author.
On the negative side, the subject matter can be difficult to follow if you don’t already have some idea about finances or retirement planning. There is a lot of financial terminology in the book and detailed explanations about investments and social securities, which can be very confusing without at least a basic prior understanding of finances. However, the author does a great job of explaining everything very clearly and simply for readers to understand.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 . I think it’s a really excellent book for the subject matter and I think it really is a must read, if you’re looking at planning your finances for your retirement or updating your plans.
This book is suitable for any American citizen that is looking to update their financial plans for their retirement or someone who wants to start making a plan for their future financial well-being. If this is something you’re looking into, then I feel this book is an essential read, as it provides excellent and detailed advice in easy to read, short chapters. Unfortunately given the investment and financial rules in different countries, you would need to be living and working in the United States of America for this book to be of use to you and probably isn’t very useful if you’re from a different country. Primarily the author is targeting people over the age of 40, but I think it is also suitable for people between 30 and 40 years of age, if you’re already thinking about your financial security and retirement.
