Racism and discrimination have been tools of oppression against blacks and minorities. In this autobiography titled, A Dream for Peace written by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, we saw how the author contributed to the fight against colonialism in Algeria. This book covers the life history of the author, who was born in Algeria during the French colonialism era, and how he impacted the lives of many as he held several positions during his lifetime. In this book, we get to learn from the life experiences of Berrah as a political activist and scientist.

Ghoulem Berrah grew up in Algeria, where he was born. He was raised in a Muslim home. Berrah attended the College de Batna and further got admission on scholarship to study medicine at the University of Bordeaux, France. Berrah was a member of various groups during his university days that protested against colonialism and fought for the independence of Algeria. He was later arrested and imprisoned, but this didn't stop him from achieving his dreams. Berrah then moved to America to continue his education, where he became a scientist. Berrah held the position of special adviser to the president of Cote d'Ivoire. To find out more about this interesting book, get a copy of it.

There were many positive aspects to the book. It was well written, and it covered every stage of the author's life. I love the narrative style of the author and the grammatical words used in the book. It made the book easy to comprehend. I love the fact that the author was fighting for the benefit of his country and not for his own selfish interests. Berrah is an example of a good leader who people should look up to. I like how he showered everyone with love and care, irrespective of their race and religion. The book also taught me about the history of Algeria and how they got their independence. I learned a lot of things from the book. I learned that Algeria was colonized by France and also that a great man like the author, Ghoulem Berrah, existed. More so, I appreciate the author's efforts in promoting peaceful relationships between Africa and other parts of the world.

The only thing I wasn’t comfortable with in the book was the suffering the author went through when he was arrested and imprisoned. I felt really sad that the author had to go through all those sufferings for the cause of Algeria's independence. It really inspired me to be a better person. I also learned and understood the way in which we can live in peace. Dr. Berrah stated that "peace starts with everyone of us; it shouldn't be a dream." I believe that for peace to reign, we must learn to tolerate one another.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I gave it a perfect rating because of the positive aspects of the book. I found no errors in the book. This shows that it was exceptionally well edited. I recommend this book to freedom fighters and political activists because they would learn a lot from Berrah.
