In Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer, readers are presented with a comprehensive look at financial planning, pensions, and the Social Security program. The author, a financial advisor, highlights the importance of planning ahead and offers tips on retirement, income protection, disability insurance, tax management, and career assessments. Throughout the book, the author provides insightful commentary on the history of long-term care and the benefits of using retirement planning software.

What sets this book apart is the author's approach to the subject matter. Despite the serious nature of the topic, Fleischauer infuses humor into the text, making the message more memorable. The author speaks to the reader in an informal tone, as if they were having a conversation, which makes the information easier to understand. The author's expertise is evident in the confident tone used throughout the book, and the author supports their argument with facts and numbers from reliable sources. The addition of images in each chapter helps to enhance the reader's understanding of the material, making it an effective tool for learners of all ages. Overall, this well-researched book provides a comprehensive guide to financial planning and the benefits of the Social Security program.

The author's writing style in the book was both educational and entertaining. They used relatable examples to illustrate their points, such as the story of the wise farmer from Afghanistan, which helped to engage the reader and bring the information to life. The author also included humor, like the joke about Mr. Johnson, to lighten the mood and keep the reader interested.

I particularly appreciated the use of examples from familiar situations, such as the story about hockey and a grandson's equipment, when discussing financial matters. These examples made the information easier to understand and relate to.

Another valuable aspect of the book was the author's inclusion of links to related resources. For example, in chapter thirteen, the author provided reading recommendations that readers could follow up on if they wanted to learn more. This showed that the author was knowledgeable and dedicated to helping their readers understand the subject matter.

While the author did not present any groundbreaking ideas for a successful retirement, the information presented was practical and useful. However, I found the frequent puns and off-topic jokes to be distracting and annoying. The author's intention may have been to lighten up a typically serious subject, but I felt it was more of a hindrance than a help. However, this won't affect the rating.

I would give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. The book has just two errors, so I believe it was exceptionally edited. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy reading financial planning books.
