Review of Butterfly Awakens
Butterfly Awakens by Meg Nocero is a beautiful story of transformation through loss and sorrow. Meg is devastated when she receives the news that her mother has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Meg's whole life, her mother has been not only a wonderful mom but her best friend as well. Meg cannot accept that her mom may not beat the cancer, so when she passes away, Meg takes it really hard. She gets so lost in her sorrow and despair that she soon starts hearing a ringing noise all the time. Meg almost loses everything because she cannot move past this huge loss. Then, with the help of friends and lots of different techniques, she finally starts to heal. But she is not the same woman she was. She is better than ever before and is a whole new person.
I am so grateful to Meg for sharing her beautiful story of transformation with us. I lost my only brother a few years ago and have had such a hard time with the grief, but reading this book has helped me in lots of ways. I love how close Meg is to her mom and how she takes her grief and turns it into a powerful tool to help better herself.
I cannot imagine how hard it must have been to watch her mother get sick and eventually pass on. The only thing I disliked about the book was how much I cried while reading it. I was honestly unable to find anything I really disliked about the book. I especially liked the part where she finally got to meet Oprah and go on stage with her.
I was unable to find any errors in the book, which led me to believe it has been exceptionally well-edited. I rate this book a solid 5 out of 5 stars because it was just so good. The author did an amazing job, and I really enjoy her writing style.
I recommend this book to anyone who has lost a loved one and is having a hard time getting past their grief. Meg doesn't skip over the hard and embarrassing parts of her story; she puts it all out there for us to see in order to help others that are going through similar issues. I promise that if you read this book, you will not be disappointed. I truly believe it has helped me begin my own transformation as well.
