Review of A Dream For Peace
Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's memoir, A Dream for Peace, is an intriguing look at the author's life and work. The book is written in the first person and is character-driven with a lot of emotions. The book is written in chronological order, from his childhood to the present, and is illustrated throughout.
Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was born in Algeria's east department to a Muslim family. After his father died when he was young, he was raised by his mother. His mother wants him to excel in school regardless of the obstacles they face. He faced discrimination in his hometown from a young age because Algeria was under French colonial rule at the time. He received excellent grades, which enabled him to continue his education in France. When his mother died, he was a medical student at the University of Bordeaux. That hasn't stopped him from trying to make a name for himself in science and politics. He also had a romantic relationship with Antoinette and told her about his marriage. Ghoulem Berrah began a lifetime of advocacy in numerous countries and meetings. Get this book to learn about the author's accomplishments and the challenges he faced throughout his life.
From the beginning, I was captivated by the author's point of view and narrative structure. I never thought of North Africans as people who experienced colonization, but this exposes everything that happened and the same hardships that other Africans experienced. The author did a good job of describing the characters' actions, emotions, and scenes using simple and understandable words. This book has a prologue that gives a good idea of what the book is about. The book teaches life's moral lessons, such as why peace is always the best way to resolve conflicts. This book also demonstrated the full scope of perseverance and determination. The author reveals all of the characteristics that contributed to the excellent character development. I appreciate the inclusion of photographs, which is a unique feature that every memoir should have because it exposes and connects me to the real-life events that occurred.
There is nothing to dislike about this book except that it is difficult to read due to its length, which makes it boring at times. There are numerous events to deal with, but I couldn't forget about them because it is based on real-life events. I get to see the author's personality as well as his flaws. I admired his never-say-die attitude; he is a true African treasure who should be remembered.
This book receives my full rating of 5 out of 5 stars. In this emotional and intriguing memoir, the author delivered. The moral lessons and themes were my favorite aspects of this book. The book is exceptionally well-edited. It is free of grammatical mistakes. I recommend this book to readers who enjoy history and memoirs.
