There is a saying that only parents can entirely comprehend the pain that is inflicted on their children, whether physical or emotional. The book My Brave Face depicts the struggle that a lady, Heather Simpson, was born with as a victim of bone disease which was eventually bestowed to her son Stevie, with whom they were able to struggle to the ultimate end given his mentally engaging condition.

The book is entirely about the course of Stevie’s life, where he seemed to begin on a great footing with not so much disease affliction, followed by a barrage of episodes that required a lot of medical attention as well as constant surveillance due to his worsening state. The book emphasizes the importance of education which openly was responsible for carrying Ray's family to their bliss with various vacations around the world as well as being able to cater for their son given that catering for a disabled person, let alone a child, is extremely taxing.

The book is filled with love throughout, as it is unspeakable what parents can do and what extents they are willing to go to for their children, the only payment being seeing their children happy. I must say the book humbled me due to the vast experiences that have been shared in the book, even imparting wisdom to the reader. The book sheds light on beaurecrats, those who make laws for the sake of their own benefit rather than for those in direct contact; the case of a man who can walk making laws for a crippled man is totally preposterous and outr of place.

The book completely gives the impression that if someone of that stature can live to be fifty years old with many people saying how glamorous and important he was in their lives, what of those who are able to live with all of their body organs intact and functioning? I liked the book and totally found nothing to dislike. The book presents a lot of pictures and letters exchanged between the loved ones, which for me enabled one-to-one understanding and proved to be a challenge.

I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars as it is entirely a motivational book that must have envisioned the people out here who think they have reached their limit in life and even take their own lives as a result. I would recommend the book to people who are dealing with health issues, as it can help them redirect their negative energy toward prosperity and a more logical life. The book has been professionally edited with little to no errors.
