Reconfigurement by Alan E. Alan Fleischauer, explores strategies to total reconfigurement financial planning of any individual in the US by taking advantage of modern life policies as they plan towards retirement. With the increase in the average lifespan of an American, it is a reality that Americans are living longer and healthier. The traditional retirement age is becoming a challenge to the retiring individuals who are in danger of running out of money while they're still alive and unable to engage in any gainful employment. Also, most old solutions like pensions may be underfunded or may have declared bankruptcy, again, just few among Americans who own a 401(k) account actually contribute money into it. The author suggests that there’s need for research and development of new concepts in the financial services industry. He introduces personal assessment and budget planning tools to help readers set their preferences based on personality, while explaining strategies to guide individuals to best utilize modern life policies as they plan ahead retirement.

The subjects are discussed in a chronological order based on what is most important towards planning for retirement, beginning with self-assessment tests to protection policies. The book focuses on social security, tax reduction, investment, spending strategies, retirement, and death planning methods obtainable in the US. It is human nature that as we age, and the number of hours and strength we can expend on physical activities reduces, it is imperative that we plan ahead to the point where we engage in activities with lesser number of hours while still able to meet our basic needs and wants. The author further engages the reader informally using jokes, quotes, idiomatic expressions and certain word hooks that reveals author’s preferred strategies. He uses fictional and personal stories to personalize the situation for readers, for example the story of Ed the chiropractor who is an ideal candidate for reconfigurement financial planning.
This book could as well be called a book on financial planning strategies, and of what use are these strategies without “planning” to apply them to your advantage? The depth of concepts and about three decades experience of the author in the financial services is quite evident as he explains myths, facts, figures and industry-serving terms like the misconceptions about social security.

This book with no doubt includes a lot of terms which are industry-specific, but the author defines them quickly and succinctly while concentrating on their applications and had no negative impact on the overall reading of the book. This book is a financial services handbook in general. I'm aware of the fact that the strategies are to be applied only in the United States but I like that it can be a motivation for non-US citizens to discover what the rules are in their various countries as the theme of the book applies to all adult human alive.

I had no problem reading this book as I found no grammatical or typographical errors which shows that this book was exceptionally well edited and I rate the book a 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is recommended to all employees, employers, entrepreneurs and anyone on the journey of self-development towards financial stability. Especially to employees who want to change their current job or career for one reason or another and individuals approaching retirement age in the US.
