Review of In It Together (2nd Edition Hardcover from B&N)
In the highly-rated and bestselling non-fiction text, In It Together (2nd Edition Hardcover from B&N) by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes (a.k.a. Scott Hughes), the profound message of “love everything” is analyzed and explained.
The author references and explores several different topics. For example, Mr. Hughes defines the “Two Yous”. This describes both the physical, outer appearance of a human and the conscious, spiritual essence. Other topics include temptation, the nonexistence of evil in this world, and several others.
One of my favorite aspects of this book is the openness and inviting writing style the author has to offer. Mr. Hughes not only includes humor, but he also does not discriminate against anyone when he offers his viewpoints of love, consciousness, and suggestions.
I appreciated the eleven suggestions Mr. Hughes provides to his readers toward the end of this text. Each insightful suggestion is offered simply, yet powerfully. My personal favorites are “Be Honest. Let go of denial, delusion, and self-deceit.” (pg. 139), “Let go of future idolization. Embrace the present.” (pg. 171), and “Just Love Everything and Everyone” (pg. 191). With each suggestion, the author is calm, open, and honest as he shares his thoughts with his readers.
There isn’t a single aspect of the book that I did not like. Of course, there were harsh realities that I would prefer not to dwell upon for very long. For example, the idea that nothing is eternal and everyone we love will no longer be here at some point is so very disheartening. It is true, but still sad. However, Mr. Hughes does balance this reality with advising to appreciate every hug, kiss, and affection as if it was the last, or even second to last one.
The kindness and openness of In It Together (2nd Edition Hardcover from B&N) made this a very enjoyable and worthwhile read. This was my second time reading it, and I feel I gained more this time around than the first time. Due to the lack of errors, this book seems to be professionally edited. Considering all that has been mentioned and my overall enjoyment of the text, I give In It Together (2nd Edition Hardcover from B&N) by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes five out of five stars.
There are many who will benefit from reading In It Together (2nd Edition Hardcover from B&N). Due to the nature of the text and the length, the age range that I would recommend this beautifully-written publication is to young adults and those who are older. This book is also for those who are either seeking inner peace or who have already found it and would like more knowledge in this area. It was truly a pleasure to read such a profound work of nonfiction, and I look forward to more works from this author.
