Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleishchauer is a self-help book on finance and retirement planning. The purpose of the author writing this book was to criticize the traditional method of planning and provide the missing piece required in planning ahead, so he has kept reading books about planning for retirement and assembled them into one wonderful book. Planning requires creating a budget for the income you have. To plan ahead, you need life protection, which refers to life insurance. Alan talks about life insurance policies people should take to plan ahead. A social security program is also necessary and involves a payroll tax system. Some people design good retirement accounts, but you should think critically to claim the benefits. Other than having retirement accounts, people should also think of investing. Alan discusses each method of investment people should consider. He talks about things contributing to increased life expectancy, such as good healthcare.

I liked that the author provided assessments, for instance, a career aptitude assessment based on the theory of career and vocational choices. The assessments help the readers assess themselves on the matters the author talks about so that they can gauge where they lie in matters of retirement planning. Alan has been in the finance industry for a long time, so he used examples of himself to explain the importance of investing. He talks about investing, showing how he manages millions of dollars for clients to show why people should invest and how it is important in retirement planning. Reconfigurement is based on helping people plan ahead and showing them the most viable options for planning. It educates them on ways of planning and also contains links to more information on the same.

There are no negative aspects to the book since I enjoyed reading it. The author applied his experience in finance to help people make the right decisions when planning their retirement.

I rate Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleishchauer five out of five stars. The book was exceptionally edited because I did not discover errors. Alan provided assessments to help readers assess themselves as they read this book. He explained the main points of the book, using examples. He sometimes used examples of himself to show the readers how applicable his information is. These are the reason I decided to give this book a perfect rating.

I recommend this book to everyone interested in learning about planning ahead. Planning ahead was the author's main discussion topic. He talks about financial and retirement planning and shows them ways they can use it to ensure they do it right.
