Review of Reconfigurement
Reconfigurement, written by E. Alan Fleischauer, is a book filled with practical advice for people who are planning for retirement and those who are about to enter the labor market. In this book, the author begins by emphasizing the need for a plan while preparing for retirement. Having argued that the shortcomings of the traditional approach to retirement, inflation, and the life span of Americans are hindrances to planning for retirement, the author sets up Reconfigurement as the book needed at this time. The author, in this book, stresses the importance of finding the right job. To help readers find the right job, the book offers resources for career assessment. In this book, there are practical guidelines for handling social security, life insurance, 401k, IRA, investments, and other tools and structures for retirement. In conclusion, the author recommends books readers can read to learn more about planning for retirement.
This book has five positive aspects. The first aspect is how the author answers the basic questions about retirement planning. He suggests how long one should work, how one should invest, when to claim social security benefits, and when one can delay one's claim. The second positive aspect is the experience of the author. He, the author, currently manages millions of dollars for his clients. Hence, he is a voice one can listen to without going astray in the process of planning for retirement. The third positive aspect of the book is the author's emphasis on seeking professional advice. In this book, the author encourages the readers to consider getting specific advice from a professional retirement planner. The fourth aspect of this book is the detailed explanation of the reasons for each step or advice the author suggests. On the issue of when to claim social security, for example, the author reveals penalties attached to claiming while working and earning a salary. For those in poor health, the author urges them to claim early. Also, the author emphasizes the variable that should influence one's decision to claim the social security benefit. Although the author throws a lot of data into this book, no reader will be discouraged or bored by the data. This is the fifth positive aspect. The historical facts and humorous style are interesting aspects of this book. The author presents historical facts about the tools and structures for retirement. Through these facts, I get to know why these structures and tools were established and put in place. Also, the author fills this book with funny jokes.
This book does not have a negative aspect.
I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars because of its humorous style and practical aspects.I did not encounter any errors while reading this book. It was exceptionally well edited.
Retirement planning is a task for every adult. Hence, I recommend this book to everyone planning for retirement.
