Review of Butterfly Awakens
Butterfly Awakens unfolds the exceptional and inspiring endeavor of the author named Meg Nocero. This 25-chaptered book demonstrated the beauty of being vulnerable while embracing the process of healing. Meg Nocero, an inspirational speaker, a premium writer, and a federal immigration prosecutor had to go through a painful transformation to conquer the enormous grief and extreme darkness she's been experiencing after her mother passed away from breast cancer. Moreover, this book is an honest account of Meg's journey that incites encouragement and hope when everything seems falling apart.
Being transparent about her childhood years, she has been constantly bullied. Despite her suffering and finding herself at loose ends, her mother became her safe space, refuge, and rock. She is reminded of her self-worth and her self-esteem with her mother's affectionate words. In addition, her mother's loving presence has induced her to excel and to continue chasing her passion. With that being said, the emotional reliance has sent Meg to be hopeless, to be in a spiral of fear and grief after the tragic loss of her mother. She brought us to the arduous journey of her mother while battling breast cancer, from her diagnosis, and her treatment until her last breath. This leads her to a great deal of excruciating depression and anguish. The profuse amount of emotional distress that she had to go through is unbearable which ultimately breeds both physical and mental issues as well. To make matter worse, she developed an insufferable condition called Tinnitus and she felt that her family don't seem to understand what she was going through. In a nutshell, she is immediately pulled down into a cycle of deep depression and tormented by tons of suffering.
Realizing that she needs help, she opts for an intervention from a friend. She discovered Chinese medicine alongside with a deliberate walking, journaling, and loads of therapy sessions, she slowly finds a way to get out from the darkness she was trapped in. To advance on her healing journey, she embarked on a week-long trip in Spain called the Camino De Santiago. Hopeful to redeem herself, she took the challenge to successfully conclude the walk amidst the blisters popped on her feet, encountered difficulties in walking, and tormenting self-doubt that she had to juggle until she reaches the end of El Camino and finally felt the superiority of the real freedom and genuine fulfillment. Indeed, her journey is hopeful, a beautiful recovery, and an incredible redemption.
Furthermore, she emphasized the splendid metamorphosis of a Butterfly as her true representation in the pursuit of recovery. The book fosters a realization that there is a large resemblance between a grieving process and a lifecycle of a Butterfly which creates a notion that even when we are pushed at the darkest times, we'll still come out as extraordinary ones. Finally, I love how those motivational quotes that are pinned on every chapter spoke to me. Every word resonated deeply at the very core of the readers.
I'm just a little bit puzzled by the author's flashbacks and forwards; I'm having a hard time comprehending when a specific scene happens. However, this minority didn't tear down the excellence of the book. Meg's writing style projects reality and empathy. It is emotional yet descriptive. The phase of her misery deeply captures the heart and is felt by the readers. The book has zilch errors. Certainly, it was worth reading and worth chewing every word because it was proficiently edited. Thus, I am committed to giving a rate of 5 out of 5 stars for this marvelous book. Truly, a perfect read for all the individuals out there who seek hope in times of despair, who search for comfort in quest of healing, and who desires to muster strength when everything falters.
