Stress Test: How Donald Trump Threatens American Democracy is an engaging collection of a published columns written by William Copper. He is an attorney and columnist that written in New York Daily News, San Francisco Chronicle, Baltimore Sun, USA Today etc. The book is included 36 columns published years between 2019 and 2022 about American democracy also it is focused on Donald Trump and his effect on America’s future. Four essential principles of American democracy which are fidelity to the constitution, respect for the rule of law, commitment to rational government and free and fair elections are questioned during the Trump era. Author argues that, through several bad behaviors, leaders in the political and media world on both the left and right have put the institutions of American democracy under a stress test. Although institutions have been battered, author sees them as having passed the test and they need to be shored up against future chaos.

The book is factually balanced even it is collection. If you don’t like political book it doesn’t matter. It is not like other political books, and it is so exiting to read rational analysis. I have rarely read political book as fluent as this one. Also book appeals people of all levels and it is written by understandable language though author is from within the legal community. Meanwhile author approached to events within the framework of American law and culture because he is an also lawyer.

As Abraham Lincoln said that “There are few things wholly evil or wholly good”, so in the book, author is tried to be explain Trump era from all way. Because of that if you are fan of one side as republican or democratic this book should be disturbing. But if you want to see criticized policy detachedly, this book is excellent source.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I can say that the book is professionally edited except few negligible errors. I would say book deserves full rating because Trump era has been dealt with unbiasedly and fluently. Copper is already awarded author and, in my opinion, he truly exhibited his writing capability.

Book will be a pleasant for the readers who interested in American policy or who want to be informed about the Trump era and further effects. Meanwhile book has been objective as possible as, so it appeals to people from both sides or neutral, so it is perfect for readers eager for non-partisan analysis of the threat to American democracy.
