Review of The First Time Father
‘I’m a dad. Now what?’ Thousands of fathers ask themselves that question every day. But a universal guide to becoming a great dad is impossible to find. That is exactly why Alfie Thomas’s book The First Time Father offers new fathers a step-by-step guide to all the procedures that will help them in their journey of becoming first-time fathers. In this humorous and engaging Guidebook for the challenges of fatherhood, the author offers invaluable insights into his own experiences, hardships, and successes.
From Item lists to the tips and tricks he learned through his own experiences, this book gives the reader a completely engaging and encouraging insight into early fatherhood. The book is sectioned into periodic increments, depending on the age of the child, and offers detailed information on how to take care of your family as well as yourself mentally and physically. All Information, especially the medical aspects was exceptionally well researched and where therefore factually sound. In addition, the author manages to use humor, sarcasm, and wit to truly engage the reader in the content he wishes to express. In my opinion, this is fact and the mentioning of a fantastic LA Lakers game is what makes this first-time fathers’ guide, one of the most entertaining and yet informative guidebooks I’ve read.
There is absolutely nothing I dislike about this book. The book was exceptionally well edited and contains no factual, grammatical, or comprehension mistakes. It does not contain any foul, divisive, or vulgar language or mentions of religion. I love quotes and this book contains enough of them to satisfy even my craving for them, as well as adding motivation for potential fathers reading them. Even if you were not to read it as a first-time father this book would entertain you and any reader smile, whilst still informing. Especially the List is helpful to grasp the sometimes quite complicated seeming concepts put forward by the author. The author almost exclusively writes about his experience as a three-time father, adding a more genuine aspect to the knowledge purveyed.
In conclusion, I would rate The First Time Father, 5 out of 5 stars. The before said aspects and arguments completely warrant this rating in my mind. It is a fantastically engaging, humorous, and informative book and possibly the best guide for new-time fathers I could recommend.
I would definitely recommend this book to any father or future father looking for a universal guide for first-time fatherhood. Furthermore, I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys learning tips and tricks for parenting, mental health, and post-natal stress.
