Finding love in a foreign county, and maybe even marrying the next Chris Hemsworth or Margot Robbie is probably the dream of any person unlucky in the love department, so why not risk moving to Australia and try? In Poppy Mortimers' self insert comedy book 28 Disastrous Dates: A (Mostly True) Humourous Memoir, the beautiful charismatic, and intelligent Poppy leaves the UK to pursue an exotic romantic adventure in Australia. In her quest to find the perfect partner, she describes her disastrous and ridiculous romantic encounters in this hilarious self-insert comedy book.

This author's self-insert comedy book is akin to Bridget Jones's Diary in its humorous nature and general ridiculousness. We follow Poppy Mortimer through 28 hilarious dates and follow her through her character progression. The aspect I loved most about this book must be the balance between comedy and the plot. The author expertly uses sarcasm, irony, and wit to balance the pot of this book in such a way that the reader shows a constant interest in the plot. The variety of the characters in this book is not just original but also offers a refreshing change of atmosphere between the chapters.

There is absolutely nothing I dislike in this book. This book has been exceptionally well edited and contains no typos or grammatical or logical mistakes whatsoever. There is a commendably little amount of vulgar or foul language in this book, considering the nature of the content and the topics are not at all divisive or inflammatory.

In conclusion, I rate 28 Disastrous Dates: A (Mostly True) Humourous Memoir, 5 out of 5 Stars. I believe this score is warranted for the following reasons. Firstly, I think that this book is an amazing comedy, through good old British sarcasm, wit, and ridiculous characters in this book, the author perfectly balance the humorous nature of dating. Secondly, this book is extremely well edited and its contents are easy to understand and also echo the inner feelings of the main character in such a manner that the reader feels Poppy’s emotions. Furthermore, the variety of the characters and the plot, perfectly combine to make the reader feel interested at every turn of the page.

I would recommend this book to readers of any age and background who enjoy comedy and humor. This is one of the best self-insert comedy books I have ever read, and I can only strongly recommend that comedy aficionados read this book.
