My Mother My Father My Home by Wilbert N. King is based on a true story about a Guyanese family who endured a lot of hardship. Wilbert describes the events of his childhood and talks about his family up until the point when a terrible tragedy struck their family. He continues his narrative by discussing the tragedies that befell the family.

This true story about Wilbert's family discusses deaths within the family, members of the family not getting along with one another, adultery, and abuse. The reader will find it interesting and enjoyable that the author included photos and pictures from his life in the book. In the book, the author even made a passing reference to a significant landmark from the past.

To some extent, I appreciated the fact that the author didn't spend much time dragging the book out. The author's decision to include photographs of the steamer and the map is something that appeals to me; I am a sucker for historical imagery. It impressed me that his mother could put up with his father for as long as she did because most women would leave a relationship with someone like that.

I am aware that an author will provide a lot of dates and locations in an autobiography when writing it. When he moved on to another date or location in such a short amount of time, it could at times feel very overwhelming. This resulted in the book having a very quick pace to read, which some readers may not enjoy because he condenses a lot of information onto one page that could have been spread out over several pages.

I would give this book a score of 4 out of 5 stars due to the fact that I had a great time reading it. The book moved at a quick pace, and I enjoyed the author's writing style. On the other hand, I located quite a few errors, leading me to believe that it was not edited by a professional, and I had to deduct a point. I also liked that the author provided a conclusion to the book, and I thought the author did an excellent job of tying the book up with the final sentence. In addition to that, I believed that the title of the book was excellent and appropriate.

People who like to read about the 1960s all the way through the 1990s and who are interested in reading about true stories should check out this book.

I do not know if I will enjoy the fast pace of this book. But I like that the author included photographs. This will aid with visualization and connecting to the story. Unfortunately, the presence of errors and lack of proper editing is a turn off for me.

I like books that contain photos, gives me things to no only read but look at. I do not like family drama but I sure like to read about family drama that does not relate to me. However, I do feel like this book will make me emotional.

I like fast-paced books, and I love the fact that the author added graphic representation. I love books with a mix of drama. Great review.
