Every nation has those people who play a significant role in its history, particularly its political history. Such people are always regarded in high esteem, lauded in history books, and encouraged to be role models for future generations. One of the individuals who, without a doubt, belongs to the category of prominent figures in Algerian history is Dr. Ghoulem Berrah. Dr. Ghoulem Berrah explains his life narrative as a student activist, a scientist, and eventually a distinguished diplomat in His book, A Dream for Peace

Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's stormy and colorful life begins with his student activity in support of Algeria's independence. He met other ardent supporters of Algerian independence who shared his views, and he went on to successfully represent the Algerian Liberation Front. As he moved to the United States to further his medical education, he took a vacation from political action and carried out some ground-breaking biological sciences research. Despite his academic excellence in biology, he later revived his political career by accepting a job offer as the president of Cote d'Ivoire's counselor. He battled tenaciously for international peace, particularly by promoting an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

I must admit that the author's fearlessness was one of the reasons I liked this book; it genuinely made me laugh. I was eager to learn more about the struggles he overcame to find peace. I discovered his life's work and the part he played in his nation's decolonization to be fascinating and inspirational, and of course, he went on to achieve great success. He had the chance to meet with several distinguished international leaders thanks to his work. Several African nations found hope in this fantastic book. Everyone who reads this book should try to emulate the author. He was a fighter for freedom and a lovely son, friend, parent, and, most importantly, a great example to follow. I learned that leaving your country in crisis is never the wisest action.

There's nothing I dislike about this book. The language of A Dream for Peace was clear and concise and really engrossing to read. In addition, the book was professionally edited, as I noticed only a few errors. The book's account of Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's journey is motivational and an excellent model for all aspiring medical researchers and political activists. The book has immense educational value. I learned much about colonial and post-colonial Africa and how diplomacy works. I particularly like the author's promotion of moral and spiritual life and his attempt to explain his beliefs.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to those who enjoy memoirs or novels that tell a historical story. Also, politics students would benefit much from reading this book, as well as anyone interested in biological sciences. The book is thrilling to read, and the majority of readers would find it to be engaging.
