Thriving in the storm by Billy Murphy offers exactly what it promises i.e, principles to overcome any adversity. Each section has detailed information about reaching the promising end of a rainbow or the silver lining of the cloud. Bill has provided 8 principles and 21 mental exercises throughout the book. The introductory section was exactly something I had hoped the book would be about. Listening to the story of someone who’ve had struggles since childhood was something that made it really sensational. Especially since he had to face a very abusive childhood, post traumatic stress and much more and still overcame them all and became the best in his profession. Everyone has struggles in life, but only a few are confident enough to share it with the society and to know that someone’s been through the same suffering is comforting for those who’ve been a victim of being forced to be the “perfect human being”.
Thriving the storm is very realistic and helps you realise that nothing ever goes to plan and the storms will keep hitting you when you least expect it. His past has made me realise how easy my childhood was and his tips to overcome the pain and fear also seems very effective. ‘Thriving the storm' offer great inspiration and ideas to help me focus on what I can do when I am facing an obstacle to overcome. Also now I know how I can work towards my own passion, and past the struggles I’ve been facing to achieve those milestones. Bill has provided not only professional advice, but also a very deep and personal insight on your point in life. This book definitely has a gift value to it especially for those who are facing depression or have reached at the tip of the iceberg. A great 18th Birthday gift for your loved one since it’s the age where true struggles begins visiting your life. Overall I will definitely give a 5/5 rating for this book.
