Review of Purpose
In her book, "Purpose: Design A Community And Change Your Life," Gina Bianchini offers a unique and insightful perspective on how to create a meaningful and purposeful life. She presents a practical framework for readers to follow in order to turn their passions into wide-reaching and impactful change.
The book is divided into three parts: finding your purpose, turning your purpose into action, and taking your purpose digital. Bianchini emphasizes the power of digital communities to create culture at scale.
In Part I, "Finding Your Purpose," Bianchini provides a personal account of how she found her own purpose and encourages readers to find their own. She explores the importance of purpose in modern life and how it can be practiced as a skill. She also guides readers to create their own "Future Story" as a new north star to guide them towards their purpose.
Part II, "Turn Your Purpose into Action," delves into the practical steps readers can take to turn their purpose into action. Bianchini introduces the concept of transitioning from a "hero" to a "host" and the power of asking great questions. She also encourages readers to take a break to reflect on where they want to go next.
Part III, "Take Your Purpose Digital," focuses on the power of technology to create a connected and supportive community. Bianchini outlines what to expect when creating a digital community and who needs it the most right now. She also introduces "Community Design™," a method to launch a community to ideal members. Finally, Bianchini advises readers on how to take their members on quests to further their purpose and keep them engaged.
One of the most positive aspects of this book is Bianchini’s ability to break down complex ideas into easy-to-understand language. She uses personal anecdotes to illustrate her points and provides practical exercises for readers to apply the concepts to their own lives. The author’s emphasis on purpose as a practice is particularly helpful, as she encourages readers to view purpose as a journey rather than a destination.
One potential negative aspect of the book is its heavy reliance on technology. While the author acknowledges the importance of offline connections, the majority of the book focuses on creating digital communities. This may not be appealing or relevant to readers who are not comfortable with technology or prefer in-person interactions.
Overall, it is a well-written and inspiring book. I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for its clear writing, practical guidance, and emphasis on community building.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to find their purpose and create a community that supports their mission, particularly those who are comfortable with technology and interested in digital communities.
