Review of A Dream For Peace
A Dream for Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is about Berrah's life and experiences on the path to finding peace. When he was young, settlers would play their music and dance beside a kiosk where Algerians were not allowed. That area was known to be insecure since there were rebellious groups. Colonial law required every child to attend school when they reached the appropriate age for school. Hardships began when he was a university student. He tried convincing fellow students to take oral exams then they would go on strike, but they didn't. They strike because assassins killed their fellow students. During the struggle in Morocco, they would use donkeys for transport as a precaution since he spent time with the Morocco Liberation Army. He visited different countries, such as France and the United States. He arrived in New York, where he would start English workshops. He was involved in international student activism.
I liked that the author used pictures of people he talked about in the story. There were pictures of people who contributed to the things he did and those he met. The pictures act as evidence that his stories are true, and they enable the reader to capture the moments as the author felt them back then when he was experiencing them. I adored that creativity and images make reading easier since some people like reading books with images. Berrah's story is an inspiration to the people. He discusses all his life events: the painful and happy moments that led him to the place he is today. He took action when he thought it was the right thing to do. It motivates readers to take action and fight for what they believe in. He uses a detailed introduction that enables readers to understand his early life and how it transformed.
I have nothing to dislike in this book. The flow of the story was good, even though it was non-fiction. Every bit of the story was enjoyable and motivating to the reader.
I rate A Dream for Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah five out of five stars. The book was professionally edited because there was an error. The presentation of the story was great. He used images of the characters in the story to promote the presentation of the story. The images created familiarity with the story for the reader since they had something to imagine as they read. His desire and courage to share his story were admirable. The book deserves a perfect rating, even with the error.
I recommend this book to people who want to read about African history and how African countries found peace. The author discusses the error of chaos when peace was not available in Africa. He discusses the things he did to find peace in African countries, more so in his own country.
