Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer.

Reconfiguration is a self-entitled financial book targeted towards those thinking about retirement, written by E. Alan Fleischauer, a successful and well-experienced financial and retirement planner in Minnesota, US. However, don’t let the retirement aspect put you off! As a person in their mid-20s, I found this book incredibly helpful and insightful. It is advertised to people thinking about future and current financial planning, which I believe is a skill that can never be understood or practised too early in life. Important topics are discussed, like medical care, looking after a spouse or family members, understanding what kind of retirement you want, and even reconfiguring your life or career to best suit your dreams.

I enjoyed the injection of humour and dad jokes throughout this book to keep from getting bored of the, at times, dry material. And the vivacious manner in which this book is written leaves the audience with the hope that it is always possible to reconfigure your life in a direction that will please, fulfil, and sustain you into old age. The reference to multiple online tests Fleischauer suggested to help the reader gain a better insight into oneself and potential career paths was a beneficial and enjoyable addition. I appreciated that E. Alan Fleischauer had completed these online assessments and was open and honest about his feedback. This helped reassure me that the advice was not phoney or whimsical but came from a good place where the author had taken the time to personally test these methods, ensuring their validity, before recommending them to the audience.

The downside is the reliance on Wikipedia to fact-check throughout this book. I am not sure this is an overly reliable source of information and would question if other, more accredited sources could have supported these facts. However, this does not impact or undermine the knowledge that the author has bestowed upon readers.

This book was enjoyable and informative, even if I do not reside in the US. There were no errors or mistakes, thus making it impeccably edited. I rate this book 4 out of 5.

I recommend this book to anyone thinking about planning for their future, trying to decide what career may best suit them, or seeking education and insight into the essential things we should consider when it comes to budgeting, no matter the age.
