Review of The Vanity of the World
"Everything is vanity," as King Solomon once said in the book of Ecclesiastes. The Vanity of the World is a "call to repentance" message for all the people of the earth, written by Memory C. Hughes. It's based on the author's dream that she can't forget even more than a decade later. Her point isn't to teach the debatable coming of Christ or the "eschatology doctrine," but for the people to stay away from the "vanity things" in our world. On the sixteenth of June 2008, Jesus Christ revealed himself through a dream in "human form" to the author and said "document this."
In her dream, the Lord showed her the "emptiness of the world," which is vanity in the sight of God. The people are busy with sinful deeds that seem pleasurable to them, which cause manipulation and beget more evil things. Some are claiming or pretending to be followers of Jesus Christ, yet they don't live righteously. There were people who acknowledged and used Jesus Christ's name for their own satisfaction, like to gain power, fame, or money, yet didn't teach the sound doctrine.
In this book, the author doesn't explain the book of Ecclesiastes, where Solomon noted that "everything is vanity under the sun," but rather the author's dream is the exact example of "vanity." I like the way the author describes her dream in a convincing manner that proves God still loves His people. I'm rating this book 5 out of 5 stars because of the verses that remind the believers of Jesus Christ that God is real, God shows mercy, God forgives sins, yet also a just God.
Readers will notice mostly warnings at first, but the message in this book is perfectly suited to every Christian. I recommend this book to all believers in Jesus Christ, regardless of which denomination "you" are in. The author highlighted that "church denominations" don't matter in the eyes of God because they are just a vessel to make God's name, goodness, and love known. The author is hoping that each Christian must adhere to the "Word of God." She even included a salvation message.
This is a mini-book with a valuable message for everyone who believes in Jesus Christ and is written in a comprehensive manner. It has a good writing format, though blemished by some typographical errors, yet projects that the book has been professionally edited. Though the book is a bit tedious (which I least like), it has a beautiful message for everybody who wants to know the truth about God.
