Review of DillDish Rotating Meal Plan
Dilldish Rotating Meal Plan, by J. Dillon, is a comprehensive meal planner that not only gives you recipes but also includes a shopping list with staple ingredients to keep stocked in your kitchen. Dilldish focuses on planning your weekly dinners, keeping the right foods in your pantry, minimizing waste and leftovers, and including fresh produce in your diet. Dilldish recipes are easy to adapt to your family's size and preferences, and Dillon keeps children in mind when suggesting portions.
Dilldish helps take the mental stress out of meal planning and grocery shopping. The included weekly shopping list is ordered by supermarket sections. This helps minimize your time in the supermarket and stops you from drifting through all the aisles and buying unnecessary items. Dillon has also included a weekly inventory and reset guide, which is an easy 5-minute check of the pantry and fridge that reminds you to discard any expired food and helps you prioritize meals that include food you already have stocked.
Dillon has thought out the layout of the book well. All the information for making each meal is on one double page, so there is no need to keep flipping through pages while you are cooking. The layout of the recipes clearly shows what dishes are needed and how long the meal will take to make. Dillon has also included "minutes of attention required". This is very helpful when deciding which meal to make because if you are frying something, it requires a lot more attention than baking or roasting. There are helpful symbols that recommend making extras of certain meals to keep as leftovers. There are also "refresh" ideas for the meals that keep the leftovers tasty. These symbols are colourful and eye-catching.
Dilldish can be easily adapted for large families or one-person portions. Dillon has also included different ways kids can help with meals. This can help take pressure off the main cook, keep the kids entertained, and inspire young chefs.
I believe Dilldish is primarily written for people in the United States. The recipes use the imperial system, and they include brands of food that are not available in many other countries.
I rate Dilldish Rotating Meal Plan 5 out of 5 stars. This book is extremely well edited, and I did not notice any errors. It keeps meal planning simple and family-friendly, as well as nutritious and delicious. I recommend Dilldish for anyone tired of deciding what to make for dinner every night.
